MJ is important Greg
Greg, I think you almost have a point here, but, this probably isn’t the worst abuse of media ‘consumer-friendliness’ by far.
For instance, professional and college sports taking up time in newscasts…why? Only excuse is, it’s important to the people. Or, demanded anyhow.
It’s always easy to compare one event with another more pressing, but, the Iran situation has mostly been explained, and while it continues to drag on, with new developments, the “picture has been painted” so to speak, with no new developments that totally recast the story.
He wasn’t just a famous singer. He was a prodigy of culture.
Why not mock organized sports, which does more than anything to build conformity, complacency and narrow-mindedness than anything that Show Business puts out. Hollywood might have it’s corrupting component, but, Sports just make us D-U-L-L.
After all, Michael is true artist, inventing genres and dance techniques. His contributions to dance, vocals, composition, style, and, his political messages were all unprecidented.
Why not take the time to actually connect the dots..that, later in MJs career, he routinely made songs and music videos about ‘healing the world’, and was a proponent of equality and peace.
Nothing speaks to the true internationalization of culture and the desire for new prophets like the fan base of MJ.
And if you disagree with me, than you Sir, are worse than Robert Anton Wilson.
